Our Mission
Using Film, and the Performing and Literary Arts to Teach, Inspire, and Enhance Lives.
Our Goals
1) To use the Performing Arts in the form of original Television and Film Productions, Music, and the Literary Arts to supplement the academic and character development of America's youth.

2)  To provide practical  Life Skills Training based on fundamental, altruistic wisdom and principles.

3) To introduce local youth to the world of independent filmmaking and technology through hands-on experience and professional training.

4) To work together with partners and supporters to produce media that can uplift, and inspire families and young viewers all over the world.
Fiscal Year 2019:  Art for Growth prepares to expand its Filmmaking training program to teens aging out of the Foster Care system, and other at-risk adolescents throughout Charles County, Maryland.  Its goal is to open the Art for Growth Community Film Institute by 2020.

Fiscal Year 2018 :  Art for Growth expands its Filmmaking training and productions through a partnership with FreshView Productions.  Working with youth ages 5 to 16, Art for Growth provides training for youth participants while FreshView Productions provides the experience.  The result is a series of youth inspired short films.

Fiscal Year 2017 :  Art for Growth launches its first Web Series.  Think or Consequences is an online game show for youth of all ages.  The Web Series is designed to provide youth, parents, and teachers an interactive tool, to promote thought and discussion regarding many of the challenges our youth face today.  Viewers are taught essential,  peer to peer, life skill lessons. 

Fiscal Year 2012 - 2016:   Art for Growth partners with Stage Right Performing Arts Before & After School Program. Together with its new partner, Art for Growth has been able to maintain annual productions, Piano Lessons, and Life Skills Training for a steady group of youth ages 5 through 12.  The program also included Summer Camp for Prince Geoge's and Charles County youth.

Fiscal Year 2008-2012:  Art for Growth begins its first direct services program for Washington DC and Prince George's County Maryland Youth. Teens produce music videos, community performances, annual live showcases, studio recordings, and weekly Life Skills training.

Fiscal year 2005-2007:   Art for Growth worked in partnership with Edgewood Community Services in Prince George's County to serve youth, ages 10-16, residing at the Central Gardens Apartment Complex. The program produced its first DVD project, titled "Bad Choices Ruin Lives." The PSA (short version) can be seen on our video production's page. The full-length version is provided as a gift to our supporters.
During this fiscal year Art for Growth's publishing segment, FreshView Books, published 2 book titles - Feelings Come & Go, based on its 1999 Workshop, andWhat To Do When People Get on Your Nerves.

Fiscal Year 2004-2005:   Art for Growth participants wrote and performed in a special original production that expressed their concerns and challenges. The production was performed for the nonprofit organization C.O.P.E. Inc.

Fiscal Year 2003-2004:   Art for Growth provided its program for two years in partnership with the Tri-County Youth Services for General Smallwood Middle School in Charles County, Maryland.

Fiscal Year 2002:   Art for Growth worked in partnership with the Fishing School - an after-school program for inner-city youth located in Washington, DC - to form the "Community Children's Testimonial Chorus."

Fiscal Year 2001:   As a partner with the Guide Program's After School Activity Project (ASAP), Art for Growth served in four Montgomery County middle schools. The program's objective was to produce and perform one original production as a combined effort by student participants from each school. The production taught its performers, and their audiences, valuable life lessons regarding the power of our choices.

Fiscal Year 2000:   Art for Growth's Executive Director and Youth Leaders provide its "Think or Consequences" and "Feelings Come & Go" Youth Workshops for seven (7) of Maryland's National Park and Planning Commission's Community Centers on behalf of their summer youth participants.

Fiscal Year 1998-1999:   Our mission began with workshops for educators of both private and public schools.
Over the years Art for Growth has partnered with the Next Step Program at Prince George's Community College and the H.O.P.E., and Resource Center, in Glenarden Maryland, Maryland National Parks and Planning, Guide Inc., 4H, and Prince Georges, Charles County, and Montgomery County Maryland Schools.

Currently, its partners are Stage Right Performing Arts Before and After School Program,  Pin Points Theatre,  Piano Playfully, and FreshView Productions, and Hope Counseling Services.
